Mendelssohn "Elijah"

I am wondering whether to invite a Jewish friend to a performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s oratorio “Elijah” (1846). Mendelssohn was from a Jewish family, but was baptized into a Christian church. Elijah is an adaptation of the story of the prophet Elijah as told in 1 Kings and 2 Kings in the Old Testament of the Christian Bible. What I don’t know is how close that story is to the corresponding parts of the Hebrew Bible as understood by Jews, and whether there would be clashes of meaning or interpretation. I don’t know whether a Jewish person hearing it would come away identifying with it or alienated by it. I welcome any insights on this.
