Mankind in Amnesia’s explanation for antisemitism

Shavuah Tov from Israel

I’ve been thinking a lot about what Velikovsky wrote in mankind in amnesia, specifically with his theory that antisemitism is really at its core based on a psychic trauma back in mankind’s past.

While his theory for what happened during the Exodus, etc. is interesting I want to put it aside for a moment and just at least say that it does seem to be that something on a level of a psychological trauma exists that drives antisemitism. What that is exactly I think is irrelevant (though his books are convincing and at the very least very interesting).

I’m not a psychologist (quite far from it in profession actually) but I have met a few people who had trauma unfortunately and the way they acted to certain things really does parallel the way a large swath of humanity acts towards us as Jews and blames us, etc.

Was wondering if anyone else had thoughts like this, and especially if you did read his book on this if you agreed or not.

I think it’s important to understand what this is coming from because it just clearly rears its head every 80-100 years and we need to stop this madness or at least understand what triggers this trauma-esque response.

Have a good week everyone
