Anyone know of an English translation of Tehillim that doesn’t use the word ‘Lord’?
The translations I have found of Tehillim (and, frankly, all other Jewish texts I read) use Lord a lot and also translate the Hebrew in some very harsh ways… talking a lot about damnation and being doomed and sinners, etc.
I have been reading Tehillim aloud with my Israeli husband now for weeks and he reads in in the Hebrew for me and then translates it. It is wonderful and so different from the English translation provided, I get none of the ‘damnation from the Lord’ heebie jeebies.
If anyone knows of a translation of Tehillim in English that is less Christian-sounding and more in the spirit of the Hebrew I’d love to grab a copy.
