There is a phrase in science called “the martians” which refers to a set of Jewish-Hungarian mathematicians and physicists, the reason why this name came up is because these people were vastly overrepresented in their fields even compared to other Jews. Does anyone who knows the history of Jews in Hungary have an opinion on why there would be more Jews in science from Hungary rather than from Poland for example?
