Christian wanting to know the origins of salem.

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he [was] the priest of the most high God. (Genesis 14:18, KJV)

I could be totally off but I’ve read a long time ago Salem represents Jerusalem. Any evidence, especially from Jewish pSalem. It honestly dawned on me how similar the words where. Really cool.
