boyfriend said he "doesn’t know if he can accept" that i am a zionist

My white, very white, boyfriend, 34 m, (i am 28 f) hes very liberal (in my view) bf who is catholic, has a problem with me calling myself a zionsit.

I do call myself a zionist, from my idea, its that the Jews have a right to land, and that Israel has a right to exist. My partner and i got into a huge fight about it, he kept saying my interpretation was wrong, he has nothing to do with the middle east what so ever, I kept saying he does not understand but said he has “read scolars” whatever, the typical arguments, you guys will understand what i mean. He said he doesnt know if he can deal with me being a zionist so I left his apartment, in my eyes thats a no no, he came down, i went home, he begged me to come back, went back halfway through going home, etc, relationship fights, he said he thinks he cant but barely listens to me. In the fight i told him “this is why my family says i need to be with another jew!” and he said that was racist.

Need to rant. Need support. Anyone in such a situaiton? We are fine now I dont get why he cares so much. This is MY problem not his. I am the Jewish/Israeli not him, he isnt even from the middle east or mulsim like wtf am i supposed to do with this
