Book on history of the Rabbinic development of Judaism

Hi! I’ve been listening to the Jewish history podcast History for the Curious and it has peaked my curiosity on all of the ins and outs of how traditional Judaism became what it is today, by the work of the sages and great rabbis over time. Is there a good and relatively readable book out there that will help me keep all these rabbis and their major accomplishments straight in my mind? I am considering History of Judaism by Goodman. Want to hear from someone who has read it if that’s what I’m looking for. Any other suggestions? If it’s available on audible, even better. Thank you! Not sure why anyone would down vote this post. What did I say?
