Advice on returning to Judaism/feeling safe?

Pls be kind <3

TLDR: it’s been a while since I’ve practiced Judaism religiously. My mom is Jewish (from Sephardic origins) and my dad is an Indian Muslim who is now agnostic. Both of them were very hands off on what they wanted me to believe and let me learn the traditions and how to worship in both religions. While I love them for doing so, it left me with a lot of questioning and as a result, I haven’t engaged much with either at all.

But ever since Oct 7th I’ve slowly started to reconnect with my Jewish roots and practice more at home (something both my parents have encouraged). I’ve talked more with my grandma (a Shoah survivor) and have engaged more with my family’s history. Judaism brings so much joy back into my life, and I’ve never been more proud to be Jewish. It just makes me sad that it took the death of so many of us for me to reconnect with my roots, but I hope to worship in their memory.

That being said, I just moved to a city that doesn’t have a very big Jewish community for law school. I’m excited to start classes again, but I’m worried about my safety if I wear my Magen David given the rising antisemitism on college campuses (I’m ashamed to say this but also conflicted). If anyone has advice/words of wisdom on how to gain the confidence to wear our symbols proudly and how to find a community in a place where there’s very few, I would really appreciate it 🤍
