Books about history of Jewish peoples with Rome

Hi, I’m a Christian classicist, and while I have a decent knowledge of Greco-Roman culture and obviously Christianity, I feel I have a very basic amount of knowledge regarding Judaism. What are some intellectual/academic works that you would recommend for someone wanting to know more about ancient traditions in Judaism and the interaction between Judaism and the Roman Empire (or overall ancient history of Judaism)?
