Wrapping Tefillin for the first time

Hey!

I’m part of a reconstructionist congregation. I don’t have my own tefillin, and I’ve never had the opportunity to wrap tefillin before. I’m going to a morning Rosh Chodesh prayer service this week, and the organiser mentioned they’d have tefillin there if we wanted.

I’m working to get more involved beyond Shabbat services and holidays, and I’d love to learn to wrap tefillin. I’ve looked into it a little — previewed the blessing, figured out which arm I should do (I’m a lefty), and tried to figure out how the straps go with the videos.

But I’m as nervous as I am excited, so if anyone has sources that they’d like to share, advice from their own experience, personal ways of making the mitzvah meaningful, anything like that, I’d really appreciate it.
