Worried About Husband Wearing Star of David/Israel hat

We are Jewish and live in the U.S in Texas. My husband works in construction and wears this hat under his hard hat to keep the sweat at bay. He also wears it in public sometimes and the stares he gets scare me. I’m scared for his life. I’ve asked him to maybe not wear it but he keeps wanting to wear it. We have our first baby due at the end of the year and I really want him to be more careful of people and his surroundings.

Is this an overreaction on my part or a legitimate concern with how things are in the country now?
