Why are some jewish people so opposed to c*****t’s?

I was raised christian. I want to c*****t to judaism, but there are very few jews in my country, so I do most of my learning online, in which I discovered some people are very opposed to c*****ts. I genuinely want to join judaism and become a part of the community, but I feel as though maybe I’m doing something wrong, and I should just give up.

Why are people so opposed, and is there any point continuing trying if I’ll constantly face backlash?
