We know most of why we didn’t have anyone follow the Rebbe. But was there even anyone who could have been an option? There weren’t many Shneerson’s left. The Rebbe had no kids. His predecessor only had two daughters, one of whom married Menachem Mendel and the other who married Gurary (but for obvious reasons, Barry Gurary wasn’t an option).you really have to go back three or four generations before we find more than a few kids. So were/are there even any descendants of Shneer Zalman who COULD have been seen as candidates for the position in 1994?
