By refraining from kosher meat, vegetarians & vegans are rejecting something that G-d has permitted us to enjoy.
I’m reminded of the Nazirites and how their vows required a sin and guilt offering, perhaps because of their arrogance or dissatisfaction with their lot in life. If you can afford it, if G-d permits it, and if you enjoy it, then isn’t it wrong to reject it? G-d wants us to enjoy the world he created as long as we keep to the mitzvot. Are any of you frum & vegetarian? Why so?
Do secular ethical reasons (animal rights, concerns over environmental degradation) play any role in your decision?
