The question has to do with Noahide.

Hello, I have something I’ve been pondering.

There are the 7 laws for the Goyim.

  1. Do not worship idols
  2. Do not curse G-d
  3. Do not murder
  4. Do not commit sexual immorality
  5. Do not steal
  6. Do not eat flesh torn from a living animal
  7. Establish courts of justice

Now, in Zechariah – Chapter 14 (You can read the entire Chapter if you want)

Here is the part I don’t understand. Chapter 14:16-19 — “And it will come to pass that everyone left of the nations who came up against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to prostrate himself to the King, the Lord of Hosts, and to celebrate the festival of Tabernacles. And it shall be that whoever of all the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to prostrate himself to the King, the Lord of Hosts-upon them there shall be no rain. And if the family of Egypt does not go up and does not come, it shall not [rain] upon them. The plague [on Egypt] will be [the same as] that with which the Lord will plague the nations who do not go up to celebrate the festival of Tabernacles. Such will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations who do not go up to celebrate the festival of Tabernacles.“

How can these nations who go against Jerusalem go up to celebrate Sukkot if it’s not listed in the 7 laws? Hence, if the Tanakh tells us that the Goyim will keep Sukkot or have no rain fall, then why are they not permitted to keep it now? Sure many would probably not keep it even if they were supposed to, but you get my point.

Edit: I’ve a feeling people may answer with “things will change in the Yemot Hamashiach, as for now they only need to keep the 7 laws.” In that case, why can’t Goyim practice keeping Sukkot if they feel led to, as kind of a way for them to show their longing for it?

Also, what other laws will there be for the Goyim? If Sukkot will be added then surely there must be more. Thanks for your time 🙂
