A friend of mine wants to read tanakh and was asking me for recommendations, and I mentioned that I use the JPS translation, but I feel like that’s not really helpful for what my friend is looking for. He wants something to help understand a Jewish perspective and how that differs from christian understanding of the texts, but I’m not sure what to recommend that’s not overwhelming. So I’d really appreciate recommendations for something in English that gives a bit more context and commentary and is easily understandable. Thank you 🙂
