Obviously musical customs vary widely, but I love this wind-down that we customarily sing close to the end of the Hallel service. It is the last line of Psalm 118, sung twice, first in F major, then in D minor. Somewhat interestingly, you sometimes hear it said that Jerry Bock utilized the traditional modes of Nusach Ashkenaz when he wrote the music for Fiddler on the Roof in order to give the music a classic Jewish feeling. Well, here is a case where he lifted a specific melody.
