rant/vent

this probably would fit better in a rant/unpopular opinion subreddit but it’s too niche to go in those. wondering if it’s just me that sees this in my community – i’m a young girl and i don’t come from such a religious community. a lot of girls my age would do crazy inappropriate non religious things growing up. whether it’s tznuit/sexual things. completely not religous (not judging; but bear with me) but then they go to Israel for a year to seminary (or “sem” as they obnoxiously and annoyingly call it) and come back a comepltly new person? now i am all for spiritual growth. but these types of people PLAN this behavior. they don’t behave the way they do and then get inspired to change; they act a certain way and excuse it by saying “oh i’ll flip out when i go to sem.” is it not morally wrong to behave in a way you consider badly if you think your future actions will erase it? and these people make me feel that they don’t genuinely connect to the religion but rather spend a year in Israel for “the vibes”, to feel like a holier than thou person, and mostly, absolve themselves of guilt. not sure if this makes sense or if anyone else sees this in their community… it’s kind of infuriating to be judged by such privileged individuals as well
