Question: Traditional Jewish narrative on Sodom and Gomorrah

What was the traditional Jewish narrative on Sodom and Gomorrah and the lessons from the cities’ annihilation? Today, Sodom is synonymous with homosexual debauchery, but was that the case with the traditional Jewish narrative? When I traditional, I mean pre-Christian.
