Please answer my question on the prayer over the candles on Shabbat!

I have gone to a reform synagogue for Friday night services and have been stuck with this question but kinda feel silly for asking. During the prayer over the candles “l’hadlik ner” is written once but sung twice. Is that because you’re lighting 2 candles? “… l’hadlik ner, l’hadlik ner…” like sung down an octave the second time. Also is it only sung this way in the synagogue or the same way at home- is this just a reform thing. Why don’t they write it twice if it’s sung twice? Thank you in advance!
