I hope this is okay to ask here. I’m going through a breakup and the reason my boyfriend gave is that I’m “not Jewish enough.” I’m actually not Jewish at all, but he said it’s not about that and rather that he doesn’t feel I fit into Jewish culture. He wants to be friends and has assured me it’s not that I said or did anything wrong, but he wouldn’t explain what his statement meant. Is there a general meaning or understanding to the idea of not being Jewish enough?
(If it helps to know, I am fairly quiet, kind, empathetic and care a lot about people and enjoying meaningful conversation, and have always found that I can be myself with other Jewish friends, so I’m very confused by this!) Thank you to anyone who answers this, I know there is a lot going on and I appreciate you.
