Does anyone have any first-hand knowledge about online smicha/dayanus programs, such as machonsmich.com, https://onlinesmicha.com, and lemaanyilmedu.com? They offer smicha after one year of online study, and dayanus certification in two years.
I’m a full-time lawyer in Los Angeles, and like the idea of serving the community either as an advocate before a beis din, or as a dayan on the beis din. My Hebrew literacy isn’t stellar, but I learn halacha daily.
I wonder whether folks graduating from these dayanus programs are able to apply their certification in a practical way (i.e., with a deis bin).
Does anyone have any first-hand knowledge/insight they care share on the practical utility (if any) of these programs?
