Jewish Values and Altruism

This is a sincere question coming from curiosity, not comparison. I’ve noticed that many prominent donors to universities, NGOs, and educational initiatives often happen to be Jewish. While I know people from all backgrounds give generously, this pattern caught my eye.

Is there something in Jewish teaching, culture, or daily practice that encourages giving-especially toward education, community, or social good? I’m interested in how this plays out in real life: is it from Torah values, family tradition, community expectation, or something else?

Thanks for helping me learn more
