It really annoys me when Judaism is seen as simply "Christianity lite".

In actuality, Judaism is very different from Christianity in a variety of ways, including its theology (lack of definitive belief in the afterlife, lack of real issue with atheism or agnosticism, etc), its ethnoreligious nature, the fact that it doesn’t evangelize, the general openness to questioning and interpretation, and just its overall focus on a specific peoplehood versus universalism. Judaism has a specific language, culture and liturgy to it that’s markedly different from Christian language, cultures and liturgies. If anything, I see a lot more similarities between Judaism and indigenous faiths (closed, ethnoreligious in nature, place-based, highly ritualistic, etc) than between Judaism and Christianity.
