Is it respectful for me to clean a broken and abandoned gravestone?

So I’ll start off this post by saying that I’m not Jewish, but like a few months ago I discovered through an obscure website that my little Polish which once belonged to Germany town used to have a small (max 120) Jewish population and I discovered there is an abandoned Jewish cementary here.

I’ve been there a few months ago and I returned like a week ago that it’s winter so there’s no leaves or trees that are covering stuff (its in a very secluded area on the edge of the town, amongst trees on a hill) and I saw two (or was it 3) so far gravestones with HEBREW on it, I could make out that one of them belonged to יקעב יהודא son of a rabbi.

But there’s trash in there and the gravestones, even though broken in like, half still have readable letters and names on them. So I figured I could clean up a bit and maybe clear the graveatone too as I really feel bad for the Jewish nation and the victims of all the atrocities throughout history and I really have sympathy for the Jewish people and i wanna honor those forgotten souls from my hometown… but I’m wondering.. is it disrespectful? Anytging I should be mindful of? Sorry if i’m being paranoid.

FYI as I mentioned its abandoned so besides the sign with a brief summary of history there’s nothing that you know
