How do you feel about the idea that basically all suffering is due to sin?

This is what the Tanakh would have one believe I feel. It’s in all of the stories. Someone does something wrong, or everyone does, and something bad happens. It says that G-d punishes sin to the third and fourth generation so this could explain childhood illnesses.

I say this as someone who calls himself afflicted goat boy because I’ve been through Hell. I feel it’s true and just, what I’ve went through. Probably even quite merciful.

I personally like the idea because if that is the root of all suffering, it at the same time offers a way out of it. If sin causes suffering, righteousness and turning from sin should offer a way out. I feel that is also true as my life has greatly improved from the worst times.

Why wouldn’t it actually just be this easy?
