I do not teach yoga, I just go once a week to a free class. I love the exercise and the class, with one drawback ā instead of ambient/instrumental music, the playlist is always entirely mellow Christian rock. I live in a Southern town of 50,000 with only one other Jew that I know of, nearest synagogue is a 90 minute drive. Iām used to being surrounded by Christianity and just tuning it out! My question is this ā during the more meditative moments in the yoga class, what would you do to make it Jewish? Are there particularly meditative prayers or songs I could do in my head? I would love to leave class feeling totally refreshed in mind and body ā right now I usually use shavasana to just tune out, rather than do any more meaningful connecting.
