History of Hebrew Script according to Jewish religion/folklore

Obviously I know that modern archeologists and historians are in agreement that the Paleo Hebrew abjad (Which the Samaritans still use) was based off of developments concurrent with Phonetician/Canaanite script that modified Egyptian Hieratic logo-grams (Themselves based on Egyptian hieroglyphs) into an abjad, and then later on, was influenced by the Aramaic script (also influenced by the Phonetician Script). What was the religious or folk history Jews tell ourselves of how Jews got writing. Most societies with literacy give it divine inspirations (Odin, Thoth); given how central the concept of a holy book (something you need literacy for) is to Judaism, surly ancient Israelites and Jews though heavily on a foundational pillar of their society and culture.
