Hebrew name question

Not sure what to tag this, but I have a question. My family is Ashkenazi, so they don’t name after living people. I wasn’t really raised Jewish, but im slowly learning abt everything.

My great(x3) grandfather had the Hebrew name Yitzhak, and one of his sons, also had Yitzhak as Hebrew name. I was wondering if this is allowed, or is there like a different rule for Hebrew names?
