Galut problems

We are a small jewish (we are conservative leaning not orthodox) family living in mainly christian Hungary and just had a daughter in the past year.

Our families do not keep the jewish traditions and are not necessarily religious. Here in Hungary St. Nicholas is celebrated on the eve of tge 5th of December, morning of the 6th of December and he brings small gifts to kids.

We are at a conundrum as we would like to raise our daughter in a jewish traditional household and we need to figure out a way to frame these things as other members of the family are already asking if they could gift her things for st. Nick’s day and besides if you walk into a mall or other public place, decorations festive chocolates and other things will clearly inform her later that something is going on.

We would like to ask if anybody had similar experiences and best practices on how they managed situations like these. Thank you!
