Shavua tov, everyone! I wanted to share something I’m excited about: I’ve been asked to review Boom and Chains, a newly translated Yiddish novel by Hanan Ayalti, for The Forward.
It feels meaningful to see Yiddish literature still entering today’s Jewish cultural conversation — not just as history, but as something being actively read, translated, and discussed.
I’ll be reading the PDF soon and working on the review. Curious if anyone here has thoughts on Ayalti, or on the role of new Yiddish translations in shaping Jewish life today.
