Does anyone know the original joke?

So I remember this one joke I heard once of something. But the way I remember it doesn’t really make much sense. So I wanna know if someone knows the original.

Its basically about a boy that goes to his rabbi and says that he doesnt believe in god. Whereupon the boy doesnt show up to several prayers until finally the rabbi meets the boy and asks him where he has been. Then the boy said “but rabbi i told you I don’t believe in god” and the rabbi says “What does that have to do with it?”
