Shavua Tov everyone,
Throughout my entire life, I have only dated Jewish, and had a strong intention of marriage. For whatever reason, each relationship ended up not reaching that stage.
Usually, we just end the relationship due to strong cultural differences (long story short, I’m one of those born and raised in Arab country/environment). I keep Shabbat, Kashrut, and put my tefilin on everyday.
Maybe I’m just unlucky, but I’ve always ended up with materialistic and excessive lashon hara partners.
Very lately, I started this “thing” with a Goya, and it just saddens me that my first ever true connection is with a non-Jew. On another hand, she makes me truly happy. It’s shockingly surprising, but she’s so family oriented, so well organised when it comes to concepts, truly honest, humble, no lashon hara, etc. It’s just crazy, but somehow, in practical aspects, I see her very Jewish. Her customs, the way of viewing the world, is exactly the same as mine. She weighs her words, there’s a respect when a promise is made, she values money as it should be, etc.
There are obviously negative aspects, such as her eating pork (not keeping kosher in general), not keeping shabbos, etc. She’s told me she’s willing to go through the process with an orthodox Beth din, but I know that it’s not genuine. She might have the patience now to stick to XYZ custom, but I highly doubt she’ll be able to do so for the next 60 years. Also there’s the aspect of kids. She’s happy with Brit-Milah, Jewish school, etc.
I just have this internal conflict, because she truly makes me happy, and I feel comfortable for the first time ever in a relationship. I make her happy too. Also, there’s my parents… they’re racist too… all my mom’s gonna think about is how my kids would look “Chinese”.
I’d truly appreciate any advice. A million thanks to everyone in advance.
By the way, she’s Japanese and I’m based in Europe, if that helps.
TLDR: I only ever dated Jewish, for the first time in my life I’m with a non-Jew, and it’s the best by far in terms of happiness. Conflicted about it, and don’t know how to act.
