Hello! Firstly, I want to be up front that I am not Jewish. So please know that going in to what I’m asking about. 🙂
I work in Recreational Therapy (Activities) in a Personal Care Home. (If you’ve seen the recent Netflix show “A Man on the Inside” with Ted Danson, then you know the type of environment I’m in.)
The home is very lightly Protestant based, but people of all faiths are welcome. Being that, I feel like most of the activities are always Protestant-focused and I’d like to offer some more activities tailored for our Jewish residents – specifically for Hanukkah since I will be on duty during the celebration dates this year.
I’ve planned an activity where we will gather to make potato latkes, but I’m struggling to know what else might be simple but meaningful for them. The age of the people I serve is approximately 80-95 years old.
Any suggestions you as a knowing community might have, I’d be so appreciative. About Hanukkah – or any other Jewish holiday.
My thanks in advance! 🙂
