Books to learn about Judaism

Hello,

I am a Catholic scholar and teacher who is wanting to learn more about Judaism. My exposure to Jewish history has been mostly limited to Christian sources, and quite surface level.

I have previously read books such as Diarmaid MacCulloch ‘History of Christianity’ and was wondering if there is any books similar about the history of Judaism?
