Yahrzeit practices

I want to start lighting yahrzeit candles on the anniversary of my grandparents and other relatives’ passing. This wasn’t something I grew up doing, so I don’t know what the rituals around it are. Do you have a photo of the loved one present? Do you set up the space or light at a particular time of day? Do you say any blessings or anything else?

EDIT: What does it mean to you to light a yahrzeit on an anniversary? Would you ever light one for a great-grandparent or another relative you didn’t know personally but only know from stories?
