Why would a universal deity focus on only one people?

Why did God make a covenant with only the Israelites? It doesn’t make sense that God chose only one people with whom to interact, while ignoring the rest of the world. What about people in Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Australia? Why didn’t YHWH reveal himself to them too?

I know that the Tanakh says that all peoples will turn to God under the influence of the Messiah and the nation of Israel, and that they will make animal sacrifices to God at the Temple [when it’s rebuilt] alongside Israel. However, why must all people be led by the Messiah and the people of Israel? Why does God favor this one people over everyone else? This seems unfair and ethnocentric.

Why has God focused on only people in the Middle East/ Mesopotamia throughout the Hebrew Bible? Why didn’t he reveal himself to the Native Americans, to Sub-Saharan Africans, to North and Western Europeans, etc?
