why the western wall but not the southern, eastern or northern wall

Is Old Jerusalem on a slope? It seems like the ground must be rising from the Western Wall plaza up to the northern wall, because at some point you just walk into the temple area from the street. Anyway, the southern wall is equally ancient, and so is the eastern wall. Amirite?
