I was at a get together recently with some acquaintances.
They ended up asking me to pray because they have never heard a Jew pray before and they were curious.
And so I recited the shema, and I explained what the words mean, since none of them understood any Hebrew.
One of them asked me if I ever had… one on one conversations with G-d when I pray? Or if I only recited memorised prayers.
Now, I recite the shema everyday and start all my days with Modah ani. But that question got me wondering about the [probably] many different reasons why Jews might pray
Thoughts?
