Who are/were the Assyrian Jews?

My understanding is that Jews and Assyrians didn’t get along well in Biblical times, so there being Assyrian Jews is fascinating, though odd, to me as someone who’s got Assyrian ancestry and is becoming a Jew. Are there any archives online about who they might be today, or even birth, ketubot or death records? Found ijatchives.org so far. Lots of first names (Binyamin, Rahel, Daoud) and last names on that side of the family point to there potentially being some Jew-ish connection, but Google’s not super helpful in telling me how Assyrians even became Jews in the first place!
