When people look at Israel through infographics, they don’t see the Israel I experienced.

I lived in Israel for 4 months last year on a Masa program. I ate pastries in a Tel Aviv bomb shelter while the iron dome protected me, I volunteered with a botanical garden whose staff said they hope I return again. I also lived with some amazing Brazilian Jews (as an American you don’t meet Jews from other diaspora countries) so it was a unique experience. Israel was the only place I felt safe wearing my Star of David wherever I wanted. It was an experience that helped me figure out what I wanted to do with my life. The fact that billions want to take that away from us…is depressing.

Gentiles will never understand why it’s so hard to find anti-zionist Jews.
