Hi all. New to the thread and (relatively) to Judaism.
I was at a new shul tonight and the rabbi called up a mother and her child to light the Shabbat candles. Afterwards, the rabbi and cantor lifted a tallit over their heads like a sukkah and prayed over them. (My hebrew is bad so I couldn’t suss meaning from it.)
What is this tradition? Is it a tradition? Also, should I post this elsewhere in a sub or something?
