What were 1st century Jews thinking?

Just out of curiosity, what do you think was the motivation for the Jews to follow Jesus Christ as the Messiah during His life and after what I believe to be His resurrection?

We know that historically Jesus existed, there is no scholar in his right mind that would dispute that fact. So, if Jesus was never resurrected, what was the motivation for 1st century Jews to start a new religion that would get them kicked out of the Temple, meander around in abject poverty while preaching, and be killed. As we know that all the disciples of Jesus were killed for their belief in Jesus Christ as the Messiah, except for John who died on an island in exile.

I’m genuinely interested in hearing what you have to say and your take on it. Thank you for your time!
