What makes makes an electronic device kosher?

I’m not Jewish. I work in healthcare IT. I’m interested in improving healthcare accessibility to underserved individuals and communities.

I subscribe to a newsletter from HHS/OCR, the branch of the government that is responsible for HIPAA compliance and healthcare accessibility. Today I received the following newsletter:

https://www.hhs.gov/about/news/2024/03/05/hhs-office-civil-rights-works-hospital-improve-access-kosher-electronic-devices-used-virtual-patient-visitation.html

The newsletter is about a hospital that recently improved accessibility for Jewish patients by purchasing kosher electronic devices for virtual patient visits (e.g., tablets that are used for doing a telemedicine video call with your doctor). After reading the newsletter and doing some searching, I cannot find good information about what would make a tablet kosher or nonkosher.

Can anybody shed some light? Thank you
