Did he wrestle with God or an unknown man/spirit? Why did his name change to Israel? What meaning is the author trying to relay through this story? Why is Jacob’s hip socket wrenched and not anywhere else specifically?
My guess is it’s a metaphor/prophecy for Israel wrestling with God and getting God’s blessing. Thank you.
