What do you remember about your b’ mitzvah?

Using b’ so you can insert your preferred/gendered word.

I’m developing a curriculum for 4th and 5th grade students about the b’ mitzvah process, and I’d like perspectives from across the spectrum on the importance of it to your Jewish identity and life. This will help me determine what sorts of information I should be introducing to them now.

So:

  • What are the strongest memories you have from the prep experience?
  • What stands out to you as a primary or defining moment from the process?
  • What did you learn at that time about Judaism/being Jewish that has stuck with you?
  • What do you wish had been shared with you at age 13 instead of having to learn it later?

Any and all answers to any and all of these questions (or any other insights you want to share) are encouraged and welcome!
