What do I need to know before studying Gemara

My university JSA has a Gemara Chabura and organizes Chavrusa partnerships for people interested in learning. The thing is, I grew up in a Reform synagogue and attended public school, so am concerned I won’t know enough to learn alongside the students who went to Yeshiva and Jewish day school. I have done Torah study with the Rabbi at my Reform synagogue, but I need everything translated, and my knowledge of Jewish scholarship is lacking.

Do I need to learn Hebrew or Aramaic first? Is there something I should read or watch to be more prepared? Or do you think I should study the whole Tanakh before looking at Talmud?

Thank you for your help!
