I recently learned of a tradition among the American Jewish community (specifically New York/New Jersey) where they would eat out at Chinese restaurants during Chrismas eve. From what I understand, this originated from Jews feeling more comfortable in these restaurants back in the early 20th century.
If anyone ever grew up doing this or still eat out like this, would you please share your story?
I’d like to know what sort of dishes you’d order and if you had to “wiggle” through the menu to find something more “tolerated” by your dietary laws.
