was this comment in a kosher restaurant rude?

It is me eating alone in a small kosher restaurant with three goyim at another table. One guy starts talking about why the meat is clean and how it is slaughtered. other guy most of said something like oh do you keep kosher or do you follow the old testament. and the other guy says “no I read the old testament but I am much more into the new testament, that’s my favorite book,” in a medium volume voice basically loud and assertive enough where i could easily hear him.
Now do you think that is not a big deal or it is rude/offensive for him to say in a kosher restaurant?

For the record, I looked back and gave them an obvious look like what the hell did you just say and just stared at them. Perhaps I shouldn’t have cared. curious to know thoughts.
