Traveling in Europe

It’s always amazing but does anyone else feel like no matter where you go there’s always going to be the information download of learning about the Jews in whichever city you’re in being persecuted and their former population numbers having dwindled at so many points throughout the centuries? Just something I’ve been experiencing throughout this particular euro trip. We are in Prague and the former Jewish presence here was extremely strong and the oldest synagogue in the world still in use is located here. The rest were of course burnt down or otherwise destroyed.

I guess as I grow older and continue to learn the more I realize “holy sh!t, most likely at some point the Jews in this area were persecuted” I know that sounds idiotic and I apologize if I’m offending people but it’s just a bit overwhelming to take in. Thought I’d ask if I’m alone in feeling this way about traveling to Europe.
